Types of Buttweld Fittings

Pipe fittings are used to join straight pipe or tube pieces together. These fittings can also be used to control fluid flow. It is the most important component of the pipe and tubing system. Buttweld Fittings are a type of pipe fitting that is frequently used in piping and tubing systems. It was given the name Buttweld Fittings because of the butt welding process used to join pipes. Compared to socket weld and threaded joints, these joints are the strongest and smoothest.

Buttweld fittings are the most popular and well-liked fittings for high-pressure applications. It's often used to carry liquids including oil, gas, steam, and chemicals over short and large distances. Don't get Buttweld fittings mixed up with Buttweld. Both pipes are joined by bolting together in Buttweld fittings, whereas Buttweld pipes are connected by welding. Buttweld Fittings are available in a variety of forms, grades, and sizes.

Types of Buttweld Fittings:

  • Buttweld 45/90/180 Degree Elbow

The most frequent forms of elbows are 45, 90, and 180 Degree elbows. The seamless pipes are heated, chopped, and bent to make small buttweld elbows. Larger buttweld elbows can be made using welded pipes or steel plates.

There are two types of pipe elbows:

Reducing Elbow: When the inlet and outlet pipes have various bore diameters, this elbow is employed to link them.

Meter Elbow: It is a pipe with a right-angled bend that may be used to monitor flow rate using a gauge.

  • Buttweld Tee

Equal Tee: This buttweld fitting is used to join branch pipelines or to connect pipelines at a 90-degree angle. This tee is known as an equal tee because it has the same bore diameter on both the run and branch sides.

Reducing Tee: It's also utilized for 90 degree branch pipelines or lines. When it comes to lowering Tee bore size, branch sides are smaller than run sides.

Unequal Tee: A 90 degree pipe connection used to link branch pipelines. Because the bore sizes at the run and branch sides are different, this tee is known as an unequal tee.

  • Buttweld Cross

When pipelines must be linked in a branch at 90 degrees, Buttweld Cross fittings are chosen.

There are two varieties of buttweld cross, which are distinguished by their bore sizes:

The Cross Is Equal

Reducing Cross

  • Buttweld Reducer

Concentric Reducer: Both the ends of concentric reducer are centrally aligned with each other. These are used to modify the bore size of the pipeline by two measures to avoid excessive pressure drop in the pipeline.

Eccentric Reducer: In eccentric reducers, both ends are in an offset position each other. Application of this is Horizontal Pipelines.

  • Butweld Pipe Cap

It's used to either permanently or temporarily halt or blind a pipeline's flow. Buttweld pipe covers come in a variety of sizes and forms.

  • Buttweld Stub Ends

It's a short length pipe with a flared outwardly one end and a weld pipe of the same diameter on the other end.
